Amazonian Proxy

Yesterday I turned in the final, copy-edited draft of "The Squampkin
Patch," which will be my third novel out from Simon & Schuster.
It'll be released in summer of 2006, a few months after the second
Clemency Pogue book. It's filled to the brim with monsters, orphans,
and candy, though not in that order.

And I got another picture via email! This one is from David in
Washington, D.C., a picture of his daughter, Zoe Bell. To the best
of my knowledge, this is not the same Zoe Bell who stunt doubles for
Zena Warrior Princess. Unless maybe she lost some weight. And
hair. And years. Whoever she is, she believes in fairies, so more
power to her.

Polly's Mammoth

Yesterday, I received a very exciting drawing of a bashful wooly
mammoth, sent in by a young reader named Polly. I'm starting to
realize that one of the themes of this website is going to be "Very
Large Things." Such as mammoths, dogs, egos, and squids. I may
start a sub-theme of shaggy things (dogs, mammoths, authors.)

Don't let the brilliance of Polly's mammoth drawing discourage you!
This is only a competition in the sense of my harsh and
uncompromising judgement. Please, keep sending drawings; I need some
fairies and hobgoblins.

Ixnay on the Ottenray

PettyOfficial.com is live, though still keeping a low profile. The site's kind of shy, and doesn't want to go too public until she has more Clemency Pogue fan art to show. So if you know any 12-year-olds who are easily intimidated, bully them into emailing me some drawings of hobgoblins, dead fairies, or friendly dogs.

The site's a work in progress, and will likely go through more changes. Hope you love it.
